Thursday, February 23, 2006
The Everest, and Himalayan in general, climbing season is set to kick begin. And according to mounteverest.net there are already nine teams on the mountain's South side, preparing to make their push. On top of that, another 20+ teams are signed up to challenge the North face, with 10 more expeditions planned for other Himalayan peaks, such as K2 or Annapurna.

You can get a complete list of all the expeditions here.

Some of the more interesting climbs include a British Team assaulting the West ridge, in an attempt at a combination of the West ridge-Hornbein Couloir, two skiing attempts, and an 85 year old woman climbing with her dog. Good luck to all the climbers this season. Climb safe!
